AI Might Be Coming For Your Paycheck!<\/h2>\n

In recent years and months, tremendous strides have been made in the development of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). This is more so evidenced by the launch of powerful AI-powered chatbots such as ChatGPT and BardAI as well as image, audio, and video generative AI tools.<\/p>\n

However, even though tech enthusiasts may have been awestruck by these platforms and developments, the hype has begun to relatively slow down as its effects are beginning to come to light. At the top of this are concerns about the future of education and jobs. While education has in the past adapted to technological developments, jobs on the other hand are in much more jeopardy.<\/p>\n

In an interview with ABC News, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said they are \u201ca little bit scared\u201d of their creation (ChatGPT). He went on to claim he thinks A.I. might wipe out a lot of the current jobs as we know them.<\/p>\n

According to BBC News, 60% of current workers are in occupations that did not exist in 1940. However, further research suggests that more jobs have been displaced by technological advancements since the 1980s than have been created. Therefore, this research concludes that if A.I. technology is like previous technological advancements, then employment will reduce at least in the near term.<\/p>\n

Another probable effect of A.I. on jobs is the lowering of wages. According to Carl Benedikt Frey, the Future of Work<\/em> director at the Oxford Martin School, Oxford University through BBC News, \u201cAI is likely to cause lower wages for creative tasks over the next few years\u201d.<\/p>\n

Comparing A.I. to the introduction of GPS technology and platforms like Uber, Carl argued; “Consider the introduction of GPS technology and platforms like Uber. Suddenly, knowing all the streets in London had much less value – and so incumbent drivers experienced large wage cuts in response, of around 10% according to our research. The result was lower wages, not fewer drivers.\u201d<\/p>\n

So which jobs are these that are in direct danger from A.I. take-over? In an interview with podcast host Lex Friedman, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said, \u201cI’m trying to think of like a big category that I believe can be massively impacted. I guess I would say Customer Service is a category that I could see there are just way fewer jobs relatively soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Customer Service is not the only field in danger. According to the New York Post, several industries such As Education, Finance, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, and Journalism could see jobs such as teachers, traders, programmers, photographers, and writers become almost obsolete!<\/p>\n
