The eight-episode spin-off series of the Addams Family <\/em> franchise Wednesday<\/em> was hailed by the public after it premiered on November 2022. The series featured Jenna Ortega as well as Christina Ricci who played the very first ever Addams\u2019s Family show. The series is about mystery and adventure with a bit of dark humour.<\/p>\n

Jenna Ortega plays the role of the teenager named Wednesday who is curious, sarcastic, and smart with a gothic style. The actress is only 20 years old but has shown much growth in the industry. Tim Burton\u2019s Wednesday<\/em> series broke the Stranger Things<\/em> record as the “Most Viewed Series”  in a week. It follows that fans were curious about season two. The show was cleared for a new season but the same was not provided with a specific date.<\/p>\n

The actress has been on the limelight (once again) after she was branded as “entitled”. This was following her comments on the podcast, The Armchair Expert.<\/em> Ortega has been branded “entitled” and “beyond toxic” by a Hollywood writer and producer. In his opinion, Ortega’s remarks were quite unprofessional. According to Steven DeKnight, who\u2019s writing credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Daredevil, <\/em>and the Starz s<\/em>eries Spartacus<\/em> -“what she said was uncalled for”.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old lead actress of the The Addams Family spinoff expressed her dissatisfaction with the creators’ efforts and she took the liberty to make changes to the few lines that were not satisfactory to her.  Nothing about Wednesday, according to Ortega, “made sense to her,” and she had to intervene to change the narrative’s “arc.”<\/p>\n

However, according to some fans, what Jenna Ortega seemingly added<\/em>  might be the reason why they love the series! In their view,  some lines in the series were a bit cringe -worthy. The fact that Jenna is an Executive producer of the show, also means that she can make<\/em> changes to the show. In an episode that was aired on March 6th, the actress commented, “I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down more on a set in a way that I had to on “Wednesday.”<\/p>\n

DeKnight criticized Ortega for speaking out about script meetings, calling it “public s***” on the authors and producers. Jenna simply has a much more better grasp on who Wednesday is as a character in the series.<\/p>\n

”I love talking with actors about their lines\/stories,” he tweeted.<\/p>\n

”But by the nature of the beast, they don’t have the full picture (in TV) of where the story is going and why some lines are needed for the whole to make sense.”<\/p>\n

”She’s young, so maybe she doesn’t know any better (but she should).”<\/p>\n

”She should also ask herself how she would feel if the showrunners gave an interview and talked about how difficult she was and refused to perform the material.”<\/p>\n

He added: ”This kind of statement is beyond entitled and toxic. I love her work, but life’s too short to deal with people like this in the business.”<\/p>\n

The Producer seemed to imply that Ortega should be more considerate on how she expresses herself. As would be expected, fans and supporters of Jenna quickly came to her defence without hesitation. They made very blunt comments like how it was no different from sh***ing on Jenna Ortega.<\/p>\n

DeKnight responded to the tweet quickly coming to his defense by saying, “My comments were about violating the trust that we all have on set and during the production process that our creative differences will stay in the family.”<\/p>\n

“It was never about her legitimate creative concerns or her great performance, she\u2019s a fantastic talent, I can’t stress it enough,” he continued. I\u2019d really hate it when we live in a world where actors or actresses are backed to a corner and their voice is taken away by producers and writers just because they are direct and firm.<\/p>\n

Whether or not Jenna’s actions make her “toxic” , viewers will tell in due time.<\/p>\n
