Football is a vital part of Brazilian culture; for me, it’s the most important. But, along with football comes rivalry, which makes the passion of those who love the game even bigger. But before talking about the similarities of Brazil’s biggest rival, we have to clarify: We are way better and more significant than they are. That said, let’s talk about our rivalry with Argentina.<\/p>\n

The rivalry between Brazil and Argentina has many historical reasons. Still, I don’t know at what point it began in football, but it was probably because of our mutual passion for the game of football and our constant battles on the pitch. In the last decades, both teams dominated South American football, constantly playing finals against each other.<\/p>\n

First of all, our passion for football is something else. There are many Stories of Brazilians and Argentinians that sold their house, and cars, even using their life savings to follow their teams around the continent or the national team in a world cup. What triggered me to write this article was a video I saw after Argentina won the world cup semi-final against Croatia. People went to the front of the house of Messi’s grandmother to celebrate and sing many football chants, including one that only said, “she’s Messi’s grandmother.” That’s a thing that I can imagine Brazilians doing as well. – I know it seems insane, but you cannot judge passion. LOL<\/p>\n

Furthermore, we both make fantastic players, and I can prove it to you. Pele(goat), Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zico. Maradona, Messi, Riquelme, Di Stefano. I could tell you a list of thousands of players, many of whom are among the greatest players who ever played the game. I think this is only possible because both countries breathe football and every single boy and some girls receive a ball as their first gift. Also, in every street, pitch, or court, you can find tons of people playing it as if it was a champions league final.<\/p>\n

Also, Brazil and Argentina’s rivalry is based on one question: Who was better, Pel\u00e9 or Maradona? The answer is easy, and I’ll tell you: Pel\u00e9, and by far. Nobody is called the king of football in vain. Pel\u00e9, in his career, scored 1,279 goals, won 3 world cups, the first he was just 17 years old and scored twice in the final, and many other achievements. On the other hand, Maradona has just one world cup and scored around 300 goals in his career. Despite these statistics, both were magical and made impressive contributions to football and both countries.<\/p>\n

Although we don’t like Argentina and they would say the same about us, football-wise, this rivalry between us made both countries giants when it comes to football, and I hope it continues like this for the next decades.<\/p>\n
