Other than the fancy shopping malls and luxury hotels in Dubai, there are plenty of entertaining museums that go deep into the city’s rich history and culture.
A good example is an Islamic museum that holds Emirati history on culture, food and music. The museums here are a sight to behold especially the design of the futuristic architecture of the buildings.

This museum is the best for anyone interested in learning about the UAE’s history. This modern museum opened its doors in 2016.
It has an astounding eight different towers where one can explore the multiple galleries, documentaries, and interactive exhibits.
The works in here are devoted to the political, cultural, and military history of the country. Like how the rulers met to deliberate the creation of the contemporary state.
This museum’s foundation lies on the exact spot where the country was founded back in 1971. Its location is in the lavish Jumeirah neighbourhood. The architecture of the museum is a mix of modern and old Dubai.

2. Dubai Museum-History Museum

The next museum worth your time is the Dubai historical Museum. It is the main museum in the city and is housed in one of the oldest buildings.
The impressive Al Fahidi fort was built in 1787 and the museum was opened in 1971. Artefacts on display include marine, coastal, desert, mountain and agricultural life in Dubai through the ages.
Other monuments featured here include authentic monuments, original samples, drawings and diagrams, audio and video of the development of the city. They showcase how life in the city was before the discovery of oil.
You can view life-size dioramas and reconstructed villages that depict the city of Dubai before the impact of oil. There is an artefact gallery that has thousands of items and antiques dating back to 3,000 BC.
More history of the building lies outside and can be told through the traditional wooden dhow.

3. Museum of Illusions
This is a much more interactive and fun museum and a gallery. the Museum is located in Al Seef Dubai.
It is filled with illusion rooms intended to trick the eyes and mind. There are anti-gravity rooms, vortex tunnel and the infinity room. All these rooms can be fun for visitors of all ages.
You can go as a group and laugh your way as you all mess with your brains at this museum.
There are over 80 different exhibits that will leave one persuaded that magic is truly real.

4. Naif Museum

Naif Museum is nestled inside an old fort in Deira that used to be the headquarters of Dubai’s police and prison.
The museum offers the best essence of what Old Dubai used to be like. It was constructed in 1939 and has intricate details of the growth of the Police force and the justice system.
It may seem small but this museum is packed with information and artefacts. There are displays of old police uniforms, weapons, original photographs and medals awarded to police officers throughout Dubai’s modern history.
You will also get a chance to look at the detention rooms for the prisoners. Admission to the museum is free.

The Coffee Museum is located in Bastakiya in the Al Fahidi area and is another museum that does not charge an entry fee.

This museum tells the history of coffee culture in Dubai, its different brewing and roasting machines used in the past. You will get to learn how this treasured drink has developed over time.
There is a shop selling rare coffees from several countries and a café where you can indulge as you learn the different roasting styles used by Arabs, Japanese, and Ethiopians.
